In 2013, shortly after starting his practice in 2008, he was issued his first patent for a solution he developed to address a challenge he encountered while treating his patients. Since then, he has been granted multiple patents and has been involved in developing products and surgical techniques. He was also selected to teach other surgeons how to perform endoscopic spine surgery, a minimally invasive approach to spine surgery.

Endoscopic spine surgery represents a significant advancement in the field of spine surgery. In the early 1980s, most shoulder surgery was performed openly, requiring large incisions. However, over the next 20 years, a small group of leaders pushed the boundaries and introduced arthroscopic surgery—a groundbreaking technique involving small incisions and underwater visualization. This innovative approach provided superior surgical views, making it easier for surgeons to identify and resolve problems.

Endoscopic spine surgery has followed a similar path. It is performed through an incision measuring less than half an inch and under water, offering unparalleled visualization of the anatomy and pathology. Dr. Jensen is proud to be involved in the advancement of endoscopic spine surgery and has made contributions to the field.
